Week 3 Coloured Hat Exercise

Suggestion cards;

Red Hat;

Gut reaction -

  • Poster 1 - Too dark, hard to understand.
  • Poster 2 - Bright, confusing as to the subject.

Likes/Dislikes -

  • Poster 1 - Likes - Good heading and good contrast. - Dislikes - Too darker colours, hard to see, background is hard to understand.
  • Poster 2 - Likes - Good use of colour, great wording on the backs of the shirts. - Dislikes - It's lacking something.
Yellow Hat;

Benefits -

  • Poster 1 - Shows the disaster itself.
  • Poster 2 - Shows the team, colourful.

What's working -

  • Poster 1 - The title/tagline.
  • Poster 2 - Colours, backs of the shirts, 
Black Hat;

Negative -
  • Poster 1 - Overall doesn't work, too dark.
  • Poster 2 - Overall too simplistic and subject matter is blurry. 
What's not working -
  • Poster 1 - The dark colours and the background.
  • Poster 2 - The small writing and large letters on the shirt backs. 

What might go wrong -

  • Poster 1 - The text will be lost in the dark background and not be able to be seen form afar.
  • Poster 2 - The subject matter may be misinterpreted.
White Hat;

What content do you have? - 
  • Poster 1 - Title, Subheading, Call to action, Simple date and time positions, emergency imagery, football team imagery.
  • Poster 2 - Title, Date and Time (not correct), emergency wording, football team imagery.
What do you need? - 
  • Finalised Title, Subheading, Call to action, Date and Time.
  • More understandable emergency imagery.
  • BBQ imagery.
  • Neighbourly imagery.
Green Hat;

What is your plan of attack? - 


  • Explore new ideas along the lines of combining the two poster developments into one idea.
  • Explore text in the way of titles and body text as well as research.
  • See how extra imagery can be brought into play. 

What feedback is helpful to move forward with? -

  • For the call to action "Join the neighbourhood team at..."
  • Replace the main focus of the football game, the ball, with a first aid kit or something like that.
